What is Amalthea Acres?

Amalthea Acres is a small scale Nigerian Dwarf goat breeder that provides goat milk centric products to the community.

In Greek mythology, Zeus the king of the gods was cast to a mountain by his mother to prevent him from being killed. A nymph there cared for him and fed Zeus with the milk from a goat. That nymphs name was Amalthea. It has been derived from ‘amaltheuein’ which means to nourish or to enrich which is exactly what goat milk does for our products.

PRODUCTS

Our products are goat based and centric. Amalthea Acres has a small number of animals which means we are hands on, with every single animal in our care daily for extended periods of time. Each animal is treated with love and respect so that you know-if you can’t purchase and milk your own animals- that your products are created ethically. BREEDING

The Amalthea Acres breeding program aims to produce high end registered Nigerian Dwarf goats with an emphasis on confirmation, milk production, interaction opportunities, and mentorship for new owners. Our registered herd name with CLRC is Aegis Ridge. You can view our owned goats by accessing the our CLRC registry page here.

We test clean annually for Johnes, CAE and are free of CL abscesses.

Each goat sold from our care will leave our property with an up-to-date tetanus shot, tattoo (if registered), and trimmed feet.
