Meet Mossy Rock NK Louie

Or just Louie, as he's known around here. This handsome chocolate buck with white markings is not only a looker but also a true gentleman. With strong, correct conformation and a calm, easygoing temperament, Louie has quickly become a favorite on the farm.

Eligible for his *S designation, Louie brings both excellent genetics and a fantastic attitude to the table. He’s incredibly easy to handle, making him a joy to work with—especially for a buck. His gentle nature and cooperative demeanor make him an ideal herd sire for anyone who values both structure and temperament.

We welcomed Louie to our farm on January 1st, 2025, and this year marks his first breeding season with us. We’re beyond excited to see the influence he’ll have on our herd moving forward, and early signs from his kids are already promising.

Louie's Pedigree through CLRC

Louie's Lineage

Mossy Rock NK Louie comes from outstanding genetics on both sides of his pedigree, combining proven production, longevity, and structural excellence.

His dam is the remarkable Mossy Rock CCP Calliope *M EX91, a Select Doe who has made a name for herself in the pail. As a 6th freshener on the Mossy Rock Farm Milk Test, Calla produced: 7.94 lbs | 5.51% BF | 34 DIM | 17 points

Her breeder describes her:
"Calla is by far the highest producing Nigerian I have ever had or seen to date. I've been skunked on daughters for the most part, but finally have a daughter freshening for the first time this year – really hoping to see her pass down that capacity."

Calla is the daughter of Curl Creek HQ Poet (Sire) and Potting Shed BM Caprice (Dam), both respected names in quality Nigerian Dwarf lines.

On Louie’s sire side is Castle Rock Nikolas VG89, a buck whose influence is making waves in Canadian herds. Nik's CGS classification score of VG89 (EVV) as a 9-year-old is a testament to his longevity and structural integrity. He is the son of: Castle Rock Black Oak +S *S EX93 (Sire) and SGCH Castle Rock Annika 2M 2D VEEV 88 (Dam)
Both Nik and Black Oak have made significant improvements in their daughters and have had a transformative impact on Nigerian Dwarf genetics in Canada since being imported from the U.S.

With powerhouse genetics like these, Louie is bred to pass on both performance and quality—inside and out.
